Ghent University engages Atos to build third Tier1 VSC supercomputer supporting research in Flanders

Paris, France Ghent, Belgium – 24 June 2020

Atos, a world-wide chief in electronic transformation, announces that it has signed a six-12 months deal for a value of over ten Million Euro with Ghent College (UGent) to deliver the subsequent Tier1 supercomputer for the Flemish Supercomputer Centre VSC. This supercomputer will enable scientists from educational study institutions, government and business to pace up time-consuming calculations and solve complex computational problems: from modeling weather and local weather modify to supporting the development of renewable strength and accelerating the research for new drugs. Most drastically, supercomputers have just lately been instrumental in study combatting COVID-19, such as in Flanders.
