Netezza’s Not Dead: It’s Just Ascended

Netezza, the IBM-owned, hardware-accelerated information warehousing hybrid, is now generally accessible (GA) in the cloud on possibly IBM Cloud or AWS.

The unanticipated pivot to give a cloud-dependent Netezza was announced previous month by IBM (which experienced beforehand planned to get rid of it off.) Now it’s a fact: times prior to on-premises guidance was slated to conclusion on June 30.

(IBM purchased Netezza in 2010 for $1.7 billion. At the time, as we documented, Netezza experienced 350 significant customers which includes Time Warner, Estee Lauder, United HealthGroup, Nationwide Insurance policies, NYSE Euronext and Virgin Media.)
