Life in all its fullness

Do you feel like you live life to the full? Unburdened by cares and worries? Overflowing with joy, and having everything you need? Living a life filled with purpose and significance?

Because that's what God wants for every single one of us. No matter what we think.

"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly". John 10:10

The problem

The problem is that most of us, whether we go to church or not, live separated from God. Separated by the things we do that God doesn't want for us, and separated by deliberately not doing the things He wants us to be doing. The bible calls this sin.

We were created by God, in His own image, to have an abundant life and to love Him. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him. God gave us free will and the ability to choose.

Even if we think we live a pretty OK life, and are quite a good person, deep down we know we're not perfect.

The Bible says... "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". Romans 3:23

Nobody's perfect

Nobody's perfect, right? So what can you do as an imperfect person to reach a perfect God? What could you offer to make up for the selfish, unthinking or downright mean stuff you've done?

Well the truth is, nothing. And because God knew it, he did something for you.

The solution

God came to earth in the form of a man, Jesus. He demonstrated a new way of living. He shook up the establishment, the social order, and upset the authorities. He was full of power and authority, justice and humility.

He was perfect.

There was an unjust trial. A wrongful conviction. He was beaten almost to the point of death, then executed in the most excruciating way imaginable. Why? To pay the price for you. To stand in your place and take the punishment on your behalf. So that no matter what you have done, the debt is settled. To do for you what you could never do for yourself.

Three days after he had been put to death, Jesus rose from the grave. An astonishing demonstration that he had conquered sin and death. Forever.

"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God". 1 Peter 3:18

The hard part

So now that you know why you've always had that nagging feeling that 'things weren't quite right', how will you respond?

Jesus said "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me". Revelation 3:20

God wants to be in a loving and supportive relationship with you. To bring goodness and joy into your life. To free you from guilt, and release your potential. To give you a life with him that lasts forever. But you have to choose it.

What you have to do isn't easy. You have to decide to leave your old ways behind and follow him.

Choose Jesus

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God". John 1:12

Choose Jesus Christ right now
  1. Admit your need (I am a sinner).
  2. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent).
  3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.
  4. Invite Jesus Christ into your life

Here is a prayer you can use
Lord Jesus, I invite You into my life. I believe You died for me and that Your blood pays for my sins and provides me with the gift of eternal life. By faith I receive that gift and I acknowledge You as my Lord and Saviour.
Amen
