Introduction
The Parish Bedminster is a Church of England Parish, containing three large churches, St.Aldhelm’s, St. Francis and St. Paul’s. The Parish office is located in St. Francis Church, North Street, Bedminster, Bristol, BS3 1JP.
The post is initially for 1 year.

Job Description
- To provide administrative support for the Clergy.
- To carry out administrative tasks for the Parish.
- To provide a central point of contact for the parishioners and general public.
Skills
The Parish Administrator will:
- Need to possess good administrative and interpersonal skills and be well versed in office management.
- Be a person who can display discretion and ensure confidentiality of work undertaken (a clear desk policy should be adopted), and be aware of the need to comply with the Data Protection Act.
- Possess good typing and computer skills.
- Be happy to work with the voluntary resources of skills and energy available from within the congregation as required.
- Be happy to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau Check (CRB). The cost of this check will be met by the Parish.
Duties Overview
It is envisaged that tasks will include:
Routine Tasks
- attending a weekly meeting with the priest in charge;
- assisting with the duplication and distribution of committee papers;
- assisting with parish correspondence, including e-mail;
- acting as first point of contact for routine parish enquiries (e.g. weddings, baptisms, funerals);
- arranging appointments for the priest in charge and setting up committee meetings when requested;
- co-ordinating production of the parish's Annual Report book in preparation for the Annual Parish Meetings;
- assisting with the production of parish publications including the weekly news sheet, orders of service, magazine etc.;
- dealing with statutory documents, including returns, registers, certificates and applications;
- taking clear telephone messages and ensuring that they are passed on at the earliest opportunity;
- co-ordinating occasional parish mailings, both paper and electronic;
- undertaking filing daily;
- ordering supplies for the parish (including stationery);
- overseeing the maintenance of equipment in the Parish Office and complying with any maintenance and service contracts held by the parish.

Terms and Conditions
The post will initially be for 1 year.
The hours are 17.5 hours per week of which it is envisaged that 15 hours will be fixed (by agreement with the post-holder) to permit regular opening of the Parish Office.
The salary will be paid monthly in arrears. The salary is £19,260 pro rata and includes a 6% pension contribution.
During the probationary period one week’s notice of termination of employment will be required on either side; thereafter one month’s notice on either side will be required.
Holiday entitlement is four weeks per year plus statutory Bank Holidays. Leave should be arranged in advance with the PCC bearing in mind the particular demands of preparation for major church festivals.
The PCC will regularly review with the post holder duties and responsibilities and discuss development, common concerns and opportunities for training.
