Spirit and Truth

Spirit and Truth is a regular opportunity for contemporary worship in South Bristol. Together we will seek to come before God and open our hearts to Him, respond to and reflect on His word and allow His truth to transform our lives.

Spirit and Truth takes place at St Francis Church, Ashton Gate on the last Sunday of the month. There is a programme of guest speakers, worship, interactive responses, prayer ministry and relevant, applicable teaching. See below for dates and details.

What's been happening

Feb 28
Nick Hay spoke on the topic of evil. What we understood by it, how we can respond to it, what it means for those who want to build God's Kingdom. We were encouraged to understand the power of our position in Christ and the need to stand firm fully equipped in the armour of God.

Jan 31
An encouraging message from Bernard Stevenson of the Salvation Army on sharing our faith in a practical way. By conspicuously and faithfully living out our faith we will make those around us curious and encourage them to ask questions.

Nov 29
Many who came felt a real closeness to God tonight. Andre gave a thought-provoking message on the power, presence and universality of the Holy Spirit - and the importance of making space in our lives to allow that Spirit to work.

Oct 25
A slightly quieter and more reflective time than usual. God was moving and touching lives. A blessing to see numbers continuing to grow.

Sept 27
An inspiring talk by visiting speaker Chris [?] about the power and relevance of the Bible in modern lives, and the importance for us to keep hold of its truth by consistent reading, study, recall and meditation.

June 28
Sara's quietly inspiring message concerned our all-too-often hurried 'shopping list' approach to prayer. This is not something we would consider in any other close, loving relationship - so why is it so often our habit with God. In stead we should discipline ourselves set aside time to simply rest in God's presence without any agenda, wait on Him. Listen. Love.

May 31
A celebration at Pentecost with people from churches all over South Bristol, led by Cathrine Gardiner.

April 26
Wayne Massey from Christ Church's thoughtful talk about the power of the cross to bring freedom and cleansing led into a time of reflection and response. There were opportunities to sit quietly in the prayer tent; to gather at the foot of the cross and take a token from it as a visual reminder through the week; or to wash a 'muddy stone' as a focus for prayer.

March 29
We were encouraged by the comments and feedback after the first Spirit and Truth. Lots of people came and many who did were moved by God. Naturally there were one or two teething problems and we have ideas to make things even better.
